I noticed this on my Tools menu in my 6.0.1 Administrator, but it does nothing. Likewise with the Remedy Developer Kit menu item that appears when an Application is open.

None of the docs even reference this, and support is (so far) stumped as well. Can anyone shed some light on what this is supposed to do?

Rick,

there's a statement of direction for MasterDocumenter that tells you kind of what this is... the full .pdf is available on SupportWeb in the MasterDocumenter Issues & Solutions (documentation) under version 6.0.... here's a snippet: (note the Future Offering)

MasterARSuite(r) (MARS) including MasterMigrator Plus

Note: While every effort is made to provide accurate forward-looking guidance on product direction to assist our customers in buying and planning decisions, we cannot guarantee that intentions stated below are final and binding.

This statement affects all current MasterARSuite customers and any customers wishing to purchase MasterARSuite products in 2004.

Remedy currently sells MasterARSuite including: MasterAnalyzer, MasterDocumenter(r), MasterEditor, MasterNaviagtor(r), and MasterMigrator Plus.

In the second half of 2004, Remedy will discontinue sales of MasterARSuite, but will continue to provide customer support on all MARS products through March 31, 2005. Please note: Customer support will not include feature enhancements or updates to the MARS product.

Future Offering:

Remedy is committed to continuously making it easier for customers and partners to develop, tailor and maintain their Remedy packaged and custom-built AR System applications. In 2004 Remedy will introduce an enhanced set of developer utilities called the Remedy Developer Tool Kit.

The Remedy Developer Tool Kit will provide a powerful and comprehensive set of tools that accelerate the development and maintenance of AR System applications. The initial release of the Remedy Developer Tool Kit will deliver functionality currently available in MARS, including:

* Application workflow navigation and exploration

* Query analysis

* Application workflow documentation

The functionality of MasterEditor will not be included in the Remedy Developer Tool Kit.

All MARS customers with a valid support contract will be entitled to a free upgrade to the Developer Tool Kit. Customers who need utilities for developing or troubleshooting AR System applications today can purchase MARS now and benefit from the free upgrade program once the Remedy Developer Tool Kit is available.

Remedy Application Explorer will also be included in the Remedy Developer Tool Kit. Remedy Application Explorer is currently available through an early adopter program. For more information, go to Remedy Application Explorer Early Adopter Program in the AR System Developer Community.

Hope that helps!!

Matt R.

Hi!

Is there a Demo Version of the Remedy Developer Plus? If yes, where can I
download it? Did someone use it already? Is it any good? How much does it
cost?

Thanks
Mark

Can't answer that one, but I used it in Beta, and (IMHO) it's worth whatever it costs.

Remedy Developer Plus incorporates the best features from the MasterARSuite's MasterAnalyzer, MasterDocumentor and MasterNavigator components, along with selected features from Application Explorer. (MasterEditor's features were NOT included since macros were eliminated in AR System 5.x and they are no longer a recommended practice.) List price is $8,950 per server, plus annual maintenance (pro-rated to your support contract renewal date, of course). Add-on licenses are available at half-price, or $4,475 per server, plus maintenance. Want an eval license? Give me a call or send an email.

In conjunction with the release of Developer Plus, Remedy also announced that MasterARSuite is no longer available. Technical support will continue through March 31, 2005. The good news is that current owners of MasterARSuite (Development edition or Essentials edition) are eligible for a free upgrade to Developer Plus.

Contrary to rumor, Migrator and MasterMigrator are not part of Developer Plus. However, like MasterARSuite, MasterMigrator Plus has also been discontinued and technical support will continue through March 31, 2005. Similarly, current owners of MasterMigrator Plus are eligible for a free upgrade to Remedy Migrator.

Need assistance with your upgrade, more information or have additional questions? Please contact me directly, off the ARSlist.

I second that... shouldnt think it will cost an arm and leg though, they should price
it nicely if they want a good mileage on it...

Maybe I am reading too much into things these days, but with a name like
"Developer Plus" one may be lead to conclude that the application was
designed for - let me think hard - individual developers to take
advantage of.

My bad.

The trouble I see with that is the phrase "per server" since my copy of MasterARSuite Plus was licensed to one workstation but usable against multiple servers. If I can only load definitions from one server it will be far less useful than it was in its IT Masters incarnation. That was the feature of the MasterMigrator that was different too - licensed on one workstation but able to migrate between ANY number of servers.

I'll have to get a 6.x demo box up (don't yet) and install Developer Plus along with the admin/user tool to see what it looks like, but it probably won't work anyway since that box won't be licensed. They may be trying to kill off a perfectly good tool with their Byzantine licensing.
