Hi Folks,
Here is a followup to my own post outlining the steps needed to
install the 5.1.2 email engine in a Solaris 2.6 environment. Thanks
to Jarl for pointing me in the right direction several times!
The email engine as distributed by Remedy will offer to install
a version of the Java Run-time environment for you if you do not
already have it installed. The version that comes with the 5.1.2
email engine is version 1.4.1, but this version will not work
correctly under Solaris 2.6. For 2.6, you will need to run an older
version of JRE, version 1.4.0:

CompatibilityMatrix/ars5.1.2.v6.jsp#EmailEngine
JRE version 1.4.0 can be found at:
http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.4.0/
But wait... there's more. Before installing JRE 1.4.0 on 2.6, you
must first patch the OS. Here is the URL of the page to download
the recommended patches from Sun:
http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/show.pl?target=patches/J2SE'
So, the procedure is to patch the OS, install the back level JRE,
and then run the email engine installer (edinstall) and point it to
your JRE 1.4.0 install.
But wait... It turns out that there is a problem with the 5.1.2
email engine. In my case, the email engine was not able to query
the forms where the work (outgoing email in my case) is stored.
Seems like the email engine was doing an unqualified search, and
unqualified searches have been disabled on my server. A quick
check with Remedy support produced a patched version of the email
engine, and once you get that, you'll be in business.

So, all-in-all, not a straightforward install, but nothing too
difficult. If anyone else is trying to complete this process, I'd
be glad to try and help. Thanks again Jarl!
Hope this is helpful.
