Dawn Allison helped me with the solution:

1) On the sheet containing the data, enter "My Title" in one cell, followed
by =NOW() in an adjacent cell.
2) On the chart, right click, and choose 'source data'.
3) On the 'Series' tab, enter the cell range for the above two cells.
4) Click 'Add', then 'OK' to dismiss the window
5) Right click again on the chart, and select 'Chart Options'
6) Choose the 'Legend' tab, and ensure the 'Show Legends' box is checked.
7) Click 'OK' to dismiss the window

Bingo! It works!

Thanks!

Are you showing the chart as it's own sheet or as an object on a sheet? I
think the only way you can do it on screen would be to have the chart as an
object on a sheet and use the cell's below (or around) the chart to display
other data. The formula in Excel for the current date and time is =NOW().

Insert a new sheet and right-click the chart, choose location, and change
the chart to be an object in the new sheet. To get the default excel grey
around the chart play with the view in Page Break Preview mode.

That's a great solution if the report will be printed, but this one will
mainly be displayed onscreen.

How do I make that date (or footer) appear when it displays on screen?

Thanks,

rp

I can't get into Excel right now to verify this but if you have your charts
set up as separate worksheets just go into the page setup and in the section
where you can identify footers and headers make the footer equal to the
date. it should update automatically.

Subject: Using an excel chart to display ARS data...

**
I have an Excel workbook with 2 worksheets, one for data (hidden),
and one with a chart representing that data.

When the excel file is opened, the data worksheet is updated from my
Remedy form via ODBC.

I'm looking for a way to have the date/time (at the time of the
update) display on the chart.

Has anyone done this before?

Thanks,

Rick
