Budgets being what they are...

You are a fairly well trained ARS Developer/Admin

Your company has just purchased ARS HD 5.5.

You have never worked with the product before.

You are faced with a predicament. You have to choose between the Admin HD5.5 course or the Customizing HD5.5 course.

Which should you choose? (administering v. customizing)

Should you push for both?

Any comment would be appreciated.

I'd take customizing - you can figure out the Admin/config in about an hour, but the customizing has much more of a learning curve, as well as a better opportunity to save time based on what you will learn there.

I would go with customizing. 95% of everything in HD 5.5 is based on standard
Remedy workflow and forms. It should only take a couple of hours at most to
acquaint yourself with its designs and processes.

If you can go for both, but if you can only take one I would say take the Customizing Class.

As someone who has waded through the miasma that is HD 3.0 and HD 4.0 I would say take the customizing class.

So much is intertwined between the HPD/CHG/TSK forms and lets not forget the SHR:Consolidated...

One very important thing to do before using this package is to make sure your fields all have the same name!!!

An example would be:

Created
Create Date
Create-Time

All the same field ID, different DB names.

If you can go for both, but if you can only take one I would say take the Customizing Class.
