I have this implemented on our system at the university, although I am not sure if my solution is in line with the KB article though.



I set up permissions on fieldid 1 for Assignee Group and Submitter.

I then set the default value for assignee to “APP-Support APP-Management APP-Administrator”.

I then created a configuration form that allowed the definition of locking rules for requests based on Application, Category, Type, Item, Region, Site, and Department.



Basically, for any App/CTI/RSD combination, you can define a list of groups that have read access to that type of request. I created these rules to work similarly to the assignment rules, such that you can define only Category in the rule, and all requests that matched this Category would be subject to the rules defined.



Some gotchas:



- When a user submits a request for which he does not have permissions, he receives an error that the request has been submitted, but it does not return a request ID.

- Had to also set the permissions the same in SHR:ConsolidatedList and update the filter that populate/update SHR:ConsolidatedList to include Assignee Group.

- The rules are not retroactive due to the number of updates that would have to be performed; they only apply to requests created after the rule was instated.

Has anyone successfully implemented row-level access on HelpDesk 5.0 with ARS 5.1.1? There is a KB article about it on the Remedy website, but I have not been able to get it to work. If anyone has had any luck with this, I'd love to hear about it.

Which knowledge base entry is this? I was searching a week ago and I could not find it -- I know Row-level worked well in 4.x, however I hope that this works in 5.0
