Hi Listers,
Here's a quick rundown of the problem: An old, unsupported Remedy server (4.0.2) existed with license keys installed. Years have passed and we wanted to resurrect the server, without paying for support. We were going to upgrade the server to 4.5.2 (we already have the files we need to do this) and we were going to use the license existing license keys for the new server (so far, I believe this should all be possible).
The problem: Before we copied down the all of the license keys/site ID/and Remedy server ID, the O/S guys helped us out by 'upgrading' the OS on the UNIX box it was on, thereby blowing away everything on the server, including the Remedy installation and the DB.
My question is, if we were able to somehow restore a backup of the DB, is the license key information stored somewhere in the DB (like the license key, server ID, etc), or is it encrypted somewhere in a file on the server, or...? Obviously, Remedy isn't giving us any help (new keys) unless we shell out the multi-thousands for support, which I completely understand.
TIA -
-Ted

The file should have been located at /etc/remedy.lic. It is a plain text file.

In the past I have asked for, and received, a list (Excel spreadsheet) of all the License keys on file for our site. You might try that if you are not able to get the plain text file back that the license keys are stored in. Hopefully you don't need to renew your support contract to get that information. Although it wouldn't surprise me if you did.
