Hello Eric,

I am the one who posted about the sharks out there (immoral am unethical
recruiters), so it is my duty to continue this thread to clear out my
point. The recruiters I was referring to are companies that do
supplemental IT staffing in anything, taking a huge piece of the pie
without bringing any value at all.

In my opinion, most people reading the IT Prophets post will identify
their core business as Remedy. So that should be sufficient to consider
them as a Remedy consultancy, not a supplememental staffing shop. The
reason they are looking for people with other technical skills reflects
the fact that Remedy is a technology hub, in which many technologies
connect to it, and consultants will most likely do some project
management and technical writing too, therefore the need for these
skills too.

This post isn't directed at anyone in particular, I just chose Gidd's
because he's the first person to sort of "defend" IT Prophet's
advertisement.

I will start by saying that I do not know anything about Jean or the
company she is trying to start. However, I would direct everyone's
attention to the post several days ago regarding the recruiters out
there without ethics. Not to say Jean or this company has none; again, I
don't know them. However, I am a bit skeptical in that it seems their
post is merely a cast into the pond of Remedy developers, hoping to get
a few bites. Stating that they're willing to review the resume of anyone
who happens to know anything about other software technologies doesn't
endear me to them any further - again, throwing the line out to see how
many resumes they can add to their "resource pool."

Perhaps they will get work; I sincerely hope they can be successful. But
to get work, they need resources. And how much they are willing to pay
will speak volumes about whether or not they're in this to create a
mutually-successful working relationship with us developers or they're
in it to reap the benefits of our "looking to put food on [our] tables."

Just my observations...

Eric

Ok, since when is putting Remedy developers to work a
bad thing? I know Jean and this is indeed a new start-up
but they have energy and are customer centric. Certainly
a rare thing today. As for their website, anyone see my
first shot a web design? Nuff said.

If the list exists to share information and promote equal opportunities
for the countless faces out there that have invested hard earned money
and time to get certified then any job opportunity is just that, an
opportunity. As for lying, where do you get that from?

I guess I am living in a bubble because I DON'T see a lot
of consultants NOT looking to put food on their tables these days and to
the contrary I know several that have left Remedy and are now in
CONSTRUCTION !!

These are difficult economic times and competition is tough!

IT Prophets, a software services company founded on a combined
20+
years of Remedy experience, is looking to expand it's consultancy
by
attracting talented and professional developers to fulfill it's
engagements.

Our staff is comprised of Remedy developers as well as significant
project management expertise. Those roles combined, we have over
5
years of Remedy project experience at over 15 Fortune 500
companies.
No one at IT Prophets is a salesman, we get business through
reputation.

Why is this better than working with the average consultancy firm?

Fortune 500 companies tend to have more work. That means longer
engagements, which means more money. Unlike other firms, we know
how
to evaluate technical talent, and we know what a difference it
makes.
If you're good, we'll know it. That means you can count on us
choosing you for prime customers, even if you're more expensive
than
someone else in our consultants database.

We are also looking for talent outside of Remedy, be it web
design,
skill with any programming language, graphic design, project
management or technical writing.

If you are interested in contract OR a permanent position, please
specify and submit your resume to info@itprophets.com.

Wow. When I first saw "Developers Needed" in the subject line yesterday, I ignored it because I'm not looking right now. But when I saw a whopping 30+ emails in the same thread this morning, I was compelled to investigate. I could not believe how catty some folks got over an obviously brand new company! Can't we be happy for them that they were able to strike out on their own with confidence that they could provide quality services to major players in the industry? I mean some of you were trying to rip them apart before they even got started! All I could think of is how would you have felt if it were the other way around? If you decided to put up a shingle and folks just blasted you based on nothing but gp?

Actually, I only decided to write to let it be known that I too have had a brief interaction with Jean Landmesser while she was with Entuition and while they were trying to push a contract forward. I can tell you she was definitely the most pleasant and above board person/agent that I have dealt with in this industry (and I've dealt with many). One or two have come close, but she definitely left a great impression with me. The most notables were:

- Not pushy
- Looks to pay for your service
- Above board contracts
- Keeps you completely in the loop
- Not born of the "contract with client fails, I bail" mentality-- she didn't vanish into thin air, instead looked into other possibilities and even provided leads with other agents and/or ccompanies.
- In a market where all contracts appears to be bare-to-the-bones and all-inclusive rates, she and company were prepared to treat me like a consultant of yesteryears (sad to call it that) where expenses were not my responsibility-- and the rate was great.

Basically, if I had the opportunity to work with her again, I would take it with a smile. You don't have to follow suit, but can we stop pushing out hate and just focus on the positives (unless it's a genuine warning like the one of one of her former associates! ;-)? I know at least most, if not all of your mothers taught you how to complete the following... If you don't have anything good to say...

And if for some reason you're still rebelling against your mom, you can always go with Rodney King... 'Can't we all just get along???' :-)

OK. That's my 2 pennies worth. Good luck IT Prophets!

It seems to me like everyone is right here. It's good that potential

It's also good that other ARS professionals share their business, as well as
technical, experience with the list. That includes praise, criticism and
opinions of the business practices of potential customers, employers and
other developers (short of slander/libel, of course).

It all comes down to picking your opportunities wisely, I suppose. I've been
lucky in that I've always worked for ethical and honest people before and
currently, but I know others have not and that there are crooks out there.
In truth, were I not in a situation with nice long-term potential, I would
have sent my resume already just to see what they could do for me and I for
them.

So, let's hope the IT Prophets of the world post freely, and that those who
have done business with the people involved post their experiences and
hopefully we'll all be better off for it in the end.

Just make sure you read the entire contract if you sign on (with anyone, of

Regarding this company, have not heard about it, or about the persons

Well, hope such postings are continuing to be posted around here, despite of

Prefer them much better being around here, then having to check Monster or

project because of that. I wish IT Prophets all the best in their venture.

Bravo Jean and good fortunes for IT Prophets! I have previously worked for
Jean and if the option presents itself again, I would do it in an instant.
KP is right on the money with the impressions she shares about Jean. I
would second them and elaborate for anyone that is interested in discussing.
Enough said.

Wow. When I first saw "Developers Needed" in the subject line yesterday, I
ignored it because I'm not looking right now. But when I saw a whopping 30+
emails in the same thread this morning, I was compelled to investigate. I
could not believe how catty some folks got over an obviously brand new
company! Can't we be happy for them that they were able to strike out on
their own with confidence that they could provide quality services to major
players in the industry? I mean some of you were trying to rip them apart
before they even got started! All I could think of is how would you have
felt if it were the other way around? If you decided to put up a shingle
and folks just blasted you based on nothing but gp?

Actually, I only decided to write to let it be known that I too have had a
brief interaction with Jean Landmesser while she was with Entuition and
while they were trying to push a contract forward. I can tell you she was
definitely the most pleasant and above board person/agent that I have dealt
with in this industry (and I've dealt with many). One or two have come
close, but she definitely left a great impression with me. The most
notables were:

- Not pushy
- Looks to pay for your service
- Above board contracts
- Keeps you completely in the loop
- Not born of the "contract with client fails, I bail" mentality-- she
didn't vanish into thin air, instead looked into other possibilities and
even provided leads with other agents and/or ccompanies.
- In a market where all contracts appears to be bare-to-the-bones and
all-inclusive rates, she and company were prepared to treat me like a
consultant of yesteryears (sad to call it that) where expenses were not my
responsibility-- and the rate was great.

Basically, if I had the opportunity to work with her again, I would take it
with a smile. You don't have to follow suit, but can we stop pushing out
hate and just focus on the positives (unless it's a genuine warning like the
one of one of her former associates! ;-)? I know at least most, if not all
of your mothers taught you how to complete the following... If you don't
have anything good to say...

And if for some reason you're still rebelling against your mom, you can
always go with Rodney King... 'Can't we all just get along???' :-)

OK. That's my 2 pennies worth. Good luck IT Prophets!

Awwww man...I was hoping this thread would die, just because it seems sort
of obvious to me.

It seems to me like everyone is right here. It's good that potential
employers post opportunities. In fact, seeing a startup looking for people
is rather comforting given the recent economy.

Just make sure you read the entire contract if you sign on (with anyone, of
course). ;)

Don't know what the fuss is all about basically. Me personally I also like
job opportunities getting posted at the list (though most are not around my
region) ...and if it's just for knowing whats going on at the market in
general.

Regarding this company, have not heard about it, or about the persons
involved in particular (again region), but well. If one is looking for a
job, trying out an employeer can't be that bad, right? If things are not
going like one expected them to be, you can always leave and go on, can't
you?

Well, hope such postings are continuing to be posted around here, despite of
some reactions (not sure about list's policies though regarding those).
Prefer them much better being around here, then having to check Monster or
similar pages.

Just my two Euros :-)

Nuff said.

If the list exists to share information and promote equal
opportunities for the countless faces out there that have
invested hard earned money and time to get certified then
any job opportunity is just that, an opportunity. As for
lying, where do you get that from?

I guess I am living in a bubble because I DON'T see a lot

After have a very pleasant call this morning from Kevin Taylor and being
threatened with legal action let me clarify a few things. He was very
upset over my post. Go figure.

a) This in no way changes the fact that I would never work with this man,
ever.

b) Northeaster never went bankrupt.
They were acquired by Entuition.

c) The wording of and around Questionable business practices.
In saying this I in no way said or implied unethical or illegal.

.02 from an Independent Consultant.

I broke out on my own 4 years ago after years of working through
recruiters.
Inevitably, not everyone likes consultants for whatever reason. I did
notice a lot of negative posts from people with Permanent jobs, which
baffles me.

For a short time the list became very similar to
AllRemedy/AllPeregrine.com's Jobs forum. This is not the place to
disparage your contemporaries. If you really want to know if someone is
reputable pick someone on the list you respect and ask them outside the
list.

That's just my opinion..............Don't Sue me :)

OK, I was not going to say anything, I guess the cat is out of the bag now.
I am happy for those with permanent jobs. But for those that might be looking we should not be so hard on a company that would make their needs known on our list. We do not want to discourage others that might want to post jobs. Another 2 cents worth. I once worked for Jean and I would gladly work for her again given the opportunity.

Thanks Tim. I agree that a list serve is not the place to
make derogatory comments about people. If someone has had an
unpleasant experience with a company or person there should
be some way of warning others, but I don't think a public
announcement is the place. It is unprofessional and can lead
to libel suits.
