We have Remedy 5.0 servers and an Oracle 9i database. Somehow users
are attaching files that become zero bytes after they are added to the
attachement field. We have not been able to narrow it down. I wanted to
see if anyone else had experienced this problem and what might be the
cause.

Hi Scott,

Just a guess but it might be that the files being attached are greater than
the Oracle default text size (about 250k).

If so, the attachment doesn't get stored in the database.

The user doing the save might not notice as they can still open the
attachment in the normal way; the file opens from the directory they have it
in.

Cheers

Peter

You might want to double check that the users are actually attaching the files and not just shortcuts to the files. If you have direct access to the DB check the Bxxx table, there are columns in it that will tell you the full name of the file as well as the size (both original and compressed in the DB).
