While importing into ARS 4.5.2, I'm getting an error that there is a "pipe"
"|" symbol and it won't import. Help....any ideas as to what it could be
seeing. It is an Excel spreadsheet that I've saved as comma delimited to be
used as CTI's.

Thanks,

Terri

Good morning Teresa!

Try disabling filters SHRCA:SHR-NoPipes01 - 04. I know in version 4.03
this is what we needed to do ONLY during imports.

There has been a known issue with this.
It's been said that the problem is that Excel does not export
CVS files with commas at times. The solution is to import
that same Excel Sheet into MS Access as a table and then
Export from the Table.

Be sure to read all the options as you export. I don't remember
what but there is a gotcha in there somewhere. I think the
problem was that MS Access by default does not export
the field names, just the data.

Teresa:

Re-examine the CSV file. I expect that you will find the PIPE symbol
somewhere in the file. If necessary, use a text editor like Notepad, not
Excel which might hide this character.

Part of the problem is that Excel does not save into csv correctly. Excel will only put in the double quotes around strings if there is a carriage return in them and that will cause problems. Import the Excel spreadsheet into Access and then export from there. Set the options for comma, Text Qualifier ("), and include field names on 1st row and the import should then work.
