Hi Listers,

Yep, SWAG = Something We All Got (or Get).

Not to be confused with SWAG = Scientific Wild-Ass Guess (often used as basis for project estimates).

Doug,

I cannot resist, don't be offended !

You work for the Mayo Clinic, one has to be concerned for
one's personal health when health care professionals
practice SWAG ..... brrrr

Happy New Year, thanks for sharing this.

Regards...Gidd

Gidd,

14 Years in health care behind me...I got news for you...Most health care professionals use SWAG. Medicine is a science in the class room only, once they are out and about, it's seat of the pants! Good thing most Doctors etc. are pretty bright people (when it comes to medicine! :0 )

I agree with Warren, I have been in HealthCare for 18 years, and they don't call it a Doctor's Practice for nothing.

Well I've resisted adding my Health Care / SWAG comments, but as a person whose time working at a Hospital (in IT the whole time) exceeds the sum of both Linda's and Warren's time, I must add a word or two, especially to re-assure non-health care folks.

Sometimes the care you receive has a big component of S. W. A. Guessing, but as any mother knows, its based on years of understanding and compassion and experience and training. If it were any different, anybody could do it.

With good wishes for the New Year and assurances that most every health care provider will help you, especially if you help take care of yourself.
