Mauricio,
Here are the next few steps from my install log (successful). I used the cd, and I used the jre from Remedy's cd (Remedy recommends you get the current jre from Sun rather than use theirs. You might try upgrading the jre; there is a later one than your directory name, j2sdk1.4.001, indicates). (I installed over Solaris 2.8/Sybase 12.5) Contrary to what the install guide indicates, ARS should be up while you are running the email engine install.
Maybe if you enter N when it asks for an RPC port, and then tell it 0, you can get around the error.
I hope this helps.
Jim.

Subject: Error when installing ARS 5.1 Mail Engine
Hello ARSListers!!
My best wishes for all of you for the New Year
Hope someone can help me, we can?t install ARS 5.1 Mail Engine. We get an error running the installation script. The platform is Solaris.
This is the part where the script fails:
AR Server RPC port is 0
Is this correct?:(Y/N) [Y]
./edinstall: test: argument expected
#
I?ve included below the complete output of the installation script til it fails. We?ve tried to debug this script but found no special errors.
Please if someone has got any experience or knows of anything that might be causing this, special considerations to make, etc, I?d appreciate if you share your knowledge.
Regards
Mauricio Meraz Aguilera
HERE IS THE SCRIPT:
