Sounds like something might be corrupted... perhaps it's worth while to export it to a def file and then examine it.

Were you using migrator? Early versions of that application have caused me considerably grief, if that's the case, you may need to go to some backups.

How much customization have you done? If it isn't a lot, maybe you should reinstall on a dev server, port the data over to it to see if you can recreate the problem and see if you can any differences.

I have had the same problem remedy does not have a good handle on what this error is I have found the following from self study
1) It happens when I am in admin making a long time period of changes or many changes
2) It only affects the form or forms I was working in locking me out of any changes but all others will work
3) Only a reboot of server and making sure the rapp server is restarted clears this

Remedy has had me check many things but there appears to be some kind of time out or over flow problem if I take too long to make changes or make to many but the only cure seems to be the old take two reboots and call me in the morning ;) actually one and verify if the application service starts as well. Hope this helps.
