Attachments in ARS4.03 and above

HPUX10.20; ARS4.03; INFORMIX 7.23
We currently have a legacy 3rd party sw called “Mansys/ARAttach”, and ALs
running DDE/OLE that perform ‘create/view attachments’ functions.
Attachments are usually image docs, bmp or tif. When ‘view attachment’ is
selected, Mansys exports the OLE object from the server to the client.
User double-clicks the image/icon, which brings up whatever imaging sw
on the client that supports it (usually Paint). They then write on the
attachment, noting what work they did, and save it. Paint/Image saves to
(clipboard?), which is then saved to “Mansys”, which re-imports the OLE
object to the server. Remedy ticket is saved, and modified attachment is
saved with it.

I need to convert this functionality to the new attachment page/field
function in ARS4.03plus without the users having to take extra steps to
save the attachment to their PC HD, delete the old attachment, and re-
attach the modified one. (Most of them are NOT PC savvy. Besides, extra
steps would severly impact their work and commitment times). Does anyone
have workflow that will do this? Or scripts in ARSperl? Any and all help
is appreciated.
