I've seen some discussion about this back in Sept 2000 but none that really applies. I have a box in London where -- you'll never believe this -- the departing Remedy Admin changed all Admins to Floating Licenses ... it gets better.... All fixed licenses have been used and, yes, ARAdmin's password is unknown so the dba cannot delete a user, so as to add a user using arcache. Now, how do I resent ARADmin's password? Can I edit ar.conf and delete the value. Do I need to kill processes following that edit so that it re-reads ar.conf using that password? Isn't this awesome? Thanks for your help

Older Configuration there: ARS v3.2.1 on Unix/Oracle

Hi There,

There is a KB Entry about creating a temp user and using that user to modify the Demo user account.

Regards

Thanks. The box was out of licenses and so I couldn't create a user. I had to jury-rig things on my own. Basically -- and this is one for the books -- we had to Oracle-edit one of the fixed license rows so that it had Admin permissions. Worked like a champ! Thanks for the feedback, though! -- sjp

The DBA can delete or update user_x or User_cacheor whatever the table Txx without knowing the aradmin password (i.e. SQL> delete from aradmin.TXX ...).
