I know that there is a limit on the text window within the Email mechanism of a filter. I was advised by Remedy (at the time), that this can not be increased, but that I can use a character field in the "Include Fields" option, as a workaround.

However, recently I came across an option in the "Server Information" Window, under the "Advanced" Tab. A window labeled "Maximum line length in EMail" with a default setting of 1024.

The help text for this window reads,
"Defines maximum line length that could be in an email. Limits size of emails passed through the notification server"

Sounds like what I want, and I'm tempted to change this to 2048, but since it is a server setting, (and I have no e-mail capabilities in the lab to test), I thought I would ask the lister community before I change it.


What exactly does this do?

Hi Ron,
I came accross the same problem and Remedy told me to try this:

Add the following parameter to the ar.cfg file (the action request system
server service will need to be stopped
& restarted before the changes will take affect).

Max-Notify-Mail-Line-Len: 1024

I tried it and it didn't work so I used the workaround they recommended and
it works okay. Anyone else try to
change the setting??? I would still like to increase it to 1024.
