I got a phone call mentioning Chris's note to the list. I am touched by the
concern. A full response is difficult.

I am personally safe, and was not in the NYC area this week. I was not well
this morning and returned home to relax and turned on the TV just in time
to see the second plane hit. Or was it the first tower collapse? Needless
to say I am still in shock.

My thoughts are with all those that are dealing more directly with the
effects of this but bottom line is act of war if it was a country and barbarism if it was
not>. While I believe my friends and relatives in NYC are safe I don't know
yet, and I haven't gotten through to colleagues that I have worked with
there.

I know that many on the list are in the NYC area, as well as Washington.
Clearly many of us know people from there or have friends and relatives
there. The ripples from this affects us all. My heart goes out to all those
affected.

While normally I would feel compelled to point out that this is not an
ARSList related issue, today is not such a day and I suspect that Joel
Sender, the current moderator of the ARSList, would agree.

Calm is good .....
