I don't know how cool it is, but we use "Support Center" for our
formerly-known-as Help Desk.

We are going through this process at the University. We are changing our
name from the Customer Service Center to some other name. My suggestion was
Academic Support Services. It actually was considered for some time until
management used the initials in a brochure :)

At one company where I worked we developed the Real Time Fault Management
application (RTFM app)- no word of a lie...
"If your users ask simple questions to simple problems then the answer for
you is RTFM."

You know This Kills me.. (be aware I am Venting)
Everyone in the WORLD knows Automatically what Help Desk is..
Yet we are always finding Some Person (manager , Pointy Hair) wanting just
make a name for him or her self (Self seems to be the Center here) and
(Also note I do not believe that Andy is doing this)
Rename something like helpdesk to something like Customer Support
sad sad.. Trying to change the name of the Guilty or the innocent
in order to Shift Blame. New Age'ism at its best.
Customer Support Kinda sounds like a Jock Strap, or a CUP
Customer Service Center (sounds like Hardware - Sears Even)
Customer Help Center (sounds like when you have a Personal Problem)
Tech Center (Sounds more like Developement place to me)

What is Wrong with Help Desk !

"PEBCAC Hotline" (if you don't know this acronym, you haven't worked at a help desk long
enough)
