How much do you need to change ie HD40 to overcome the license rule for this
product?

If I copy the Change part of the product, modify and customize it is is
legal to use?

Jarl,

Is this a joke or a very stupid question.

A product is licensed because people have put time and effort into writing,
documenting and supporting it. You want to break the rules? If so, I suggest
you don't ask questions about it on a list which is monitored by the owner
of the product.

Expanding on the question, though - at what point does your customisation of
a base product, be it helpdesk, change or asset, stop being a customisation,
requiring individual licenses, and start being a custom application in its
own right, needing only ARS licences?

I doubt that we, personally, would get to that stage - I quite like the base
products, with some "tweaking", but it's a valid question, I think.

It's neither a joke or a stupid question. I mean this is a relevant
question. If I create an application, and Remedy says this is to similar to
ours, you have stolen our application. And also; what are the licenserules
with an Remedy application.

...and I don't care if who monitores the list, even if its King Kong! The
list is independent, not a Remedy list.

Good question.

We has looked into Asset mgmt, but find the product not suitable for our
company. We need a lot of customisation, creating a lot of new forms and
workflow

Jarl

Probably the key issue is whether your modified application uses any of the
special Remedy api programs like RAPPsvc , approval service etc. which will
require a licence. If these features are removed or rewritten, I guess you
don't need an application licence.

I would suggest that you would need to get away from using rappsvc as one
condition for it no longer being the Remedy product.
