Folks,
I'd like to know, if AR Web/ Remedy Web can be accessed through world wide
web. If so, what are the requirements?
Which one is more secured, ARWEB or Remedy Web?
Thanks,
ravi

You can access ARWeb through the public domain but I would recommend you use
a secure server (https://) . The last I heard Remedy web can not be accessed
through firewalls but that might have changed.

We have set up Remedy Web trough a firewall, its not as secure as ssl, but
better than nothing. Just specify a port between the waserver and the
applet, and another port between the waserver and the ARS server.

Here is the gathered info. from all posts on this subject.
ARWEB:
Lighter Client
Limited set of features.
DHTML based, and much more responsive.
Good for low-bandwidth connections.
Less Close to User tool experience.
Less firewall issues
Uses SSL 128bit Encryption, more secure
Good solution for customers and support staff in a hurry, very good over
WAN or Internet connections, but not very pretty
REMEDYWEB:
Heavier Client
Lot more features. Much more functional, since it uses all of your existing
HD4 views.
JAVA based, Downloads forms, needs High Bandwidth
Much Closer to User tool experience.
More Firewall issues
Uses own Protocal, is not secure
The Java Plug-in 1.1 that RemedyWeb 4.0 required is supposed to be
vulnerable to the so called 'Brown Orifice' attack. This attack exploited a
problem within the JVM that essentially turned the target system into a Web
server that provided open access to all the files that the browser's user
could access on the machine.

-ravi
