We just moved our development server into a production environment. I added
all the necessary escalations to the machine. Now when escalations are
running, it locks up processes. I called Remedy and they had me install
patch 976. I am still having the same problem. Have any of you have
experience in correcting this "known error" in Remedy.
Thanks in advance to any of you still up this late.

Keith,
Patch 976 is suppose to help for Fork process..
It did not help me yet.. But I am awaiting the Fix for the Fix too..
As every time I turn on a couple of filters that notify the group for
SLA's ..
It hangs. :-( I am getting tired of Kill -9.. That stinks..

Patrick, I don't know if Remedy has verified this yet or not. BUT, so far I
am not locking up any more on my end. Here is the notes that Remedy and
myself have exchanged. I have a short list of steps that I performed on our
server. So far, so good. If you try this, let me know how it goes.
Hi Keith,
I have reviewed your troubleshooting procedure:
1). We had 4.5.1 installed with patch 976.
2). Stopped the server, moved all the files in the BIN directory to a
backup location.
3). Installed 4.0.3 server
4). Installed patch 870 on top of 4.0.3
5). At this point, we could not connect to the database (said it was the
incorrect version)
6). Installed 4.5.1 again with no patch.
It is running stable will 90% of the escalations that send
notifications out in place.
The step 5 means that ARS4.0.3 can not connect 4.5.1 database version (13).
By the way, the ARS4.0.3 database version is (11). So for we don't have a
new patch to fix the server hanging issue completely. I think what you did
is a possible fix. I will suggest other customer who has this issue to try
this way. In addition, I will report it to our engineer group. Thanks for
sharing valuable information with us.
Have a nice holiday!
Hua
