Fixed License?

What would happen if a user (John Doe) had a fixed license for ARS and he
logged into Remedy and then John Doe gave his ID & PASSWORD to someone else
who logged in as him. Is Remedy intelligent enough to say NO the same
person can't login twice. Or does it allow the login, but the second person
does not have a fixed license or does have a fixed license.
Thanks.
Kind regards,

But, what will happen if John Doe who has a fixed license logs into two

Ty,
Fixed license belongs to the person, so if he/she is working from 2 places,
it doesn't metter. I'd say it is convenient for technitian on the move, also
anybody can open the new client multiple times, or run particular apps from
the same pc, you see, every time you login into the system.

Big Question on this subject:
Let's say I bought :
ARS+HD apps = $ 20, 000
Fixed/Float Lic = $ 10, 000
I bought Basic Tech support, which is 15% product cost, it supposed to be 15% of
20,000.
But Remedy charging 15% of 30,000 for Tech Support.
Can I exclude support for User Lic. fee? Why do I need tech Support for User
Licenses?
Thanks,
ravi

I don't see anything wrong with this. It saves User time and money(?)
Eventhough Joe Logged @ two places the Updates he makes will go through ARadmin.

Patty is correct.
From the Software License Agreement
Section 1: "License Grant"
subsection C: "Fixed v. Floating Licenses.
sub-subsection iii: ... snip ... Use of an alias to allow multiple
individuals to share the same license ... snip ... constitute a material
breach of this Agreement.

Our apps cost 47,000 and Licenses cost 58,000
We're paying 15 % of both costs!!
Eventhough, we never need help on Remedy Licensed users.
Let me know, if any one not paying Support fee for License cost
Thanks,
ravi

Ravi,
The support on licenses is support for the base ARSystem.
The support on applications is for support of the applications,
definitions, apps server, etc.
At my helpdesk we don't have any applications as we run home-grown apps.
If they removed the support charges on normal licenses, we would be very
happy :-)

Ok, If Support fee for lic. is support for ARsystem, here is my question.
If you company A buy ARS + 50 Lic. paying a lot more than Company B, which
bought ARS + 5 Licenses.
In reality Remedy users don't call Remedy support. In both cases, only Remedy
Admin or Remedy developer call for support.
As Remedy Admin and developer, I see this: No matter how many lic. we have, my
calls to get clarifications/doubts/help to Remedy Tech supoort doesn't change.
Do you agree?
Thanks.

I hate to say it, my friend, but you're tilting against a windmill that
isn't going to budge. I'd advise you to not waste any more energy fighting
this, because you're probably not going to have any effect on a large
company's revenue producing mechanism.

It's a bit confusing that the support fee only gives us right to report bugs
and errors in the Remedyproducts, no help with development questions as long
the system works - but - new versions are free, this is as I can see what we
really pay for ?

I STRONGLY AGREE !!!!!!!
But, this generates $$$$$$$$$$ for Remedy and therefore not likely to
change.
I think if more of us go together and said NO WAY then things might change.
It is bad enough we are being taken for a ride with the price increases.
And this is not the first time - over the last couple of years prices have
gone up for licenses quite a bit.
To add insult to injury we pay for support for licenses which makes NO
SENSE. But, it comes down to the all mighty dollar.
Just my 2 cents.
