For us it means that it does not populate all the indexing files it creates
so that when the user queries on a field that is defined for FTS they get an
error message saying that an FTS search is pending. When you clear the error
message only records that case-match your criteria are returned. For example
a search for "TEST" on an FTS field will only return values containing TEST,
not Test or test as it should.

Not working for us means that the server was continuously reindexing and
everyone was being looked out the database. This ended up with the server
crashing almost all the time for 4 days, before I simply removed all mention
of FTS on the server! And when it did "work", the FTS field stayed blank
anyway.

We have FTS and it does work. When I run into problems with it I find the
best thing to do is remove the
ftindex dir. and reindex (process found in Admin guide v2) this sucks but it
works. The one big problem I am having and it is BIG is that FTS add about
a considerable amount of time to saving a form. For example total time to
save a ticket was 37sec of that 37sec 33sec was FTS processing time.
Another mistake we did with FTS is that we set non-longtext field to FTS.
This just adds more time to a Search.
