ONLY thing that seems to have changed is ARMail. This is on an NT4 Sp6a
system with Exchange 5.5 Sp3 on the same box, ARS 4.0.3, Help Desk 4.0. The
following error is occurring when a notification or group of notifications
is generated that should go out by email. This showed up in the NT Event
log for the first time _ever_ on this installation, this morning. Just to
make life difficult, it does not ALWAYS occur.

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( Remedy Mail Service ) could
not be found. It contains the following insertion string(s): Armaild failed
to process notifications., .

Prior to this the only similar errors I have gotten look like this:

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( Remedy Mail Service ) could
not be found. It contains the following insertion string(s): Attempt to send
mail to this user failed. To: edu, Return code: 14.

...and occurred when the email address in the SHR:People record could not be
resolved by our mailhost.

The good news is that messages ARE being properly processed out of the
\Mailntfy folder and sent from Exchange. Nothing shows up in filter or api
logs, arerror.log, etc. Changing the current logged-in user on the server
to the arsystem mailbox account and even opening, closing, or leaving open
the Exchange mailbox for that user has no effect.

Has anyone with a comparable system seen this behavior (yet)? I am going to
try restarting the server, then maybe reinstalling armail.

Neither did re-running the ARS 4.0.3 installation including the Remedy Mail
Server (after carefully checking every parameter of the ars mail account in
NT and Exchange). Subsequent to the reinstallation I reassigned several
cases/changes and six email notifications went out to two accounts without
the error. I created a new case for the same group and the error appeared
as the two email notifications went out; the two target accounts WERE
notified. All I know to do now is report the error and watch for any
pattern, like which notifications generate the error and which do not, if
that is in fact the case. It may also be a function of the scanning cycle
arsmail runs against the mailntfy directory, and the header files it is
finding there.
