My "Remedy Application Service" service won't service any requests (70+
files sitting in rappdir directory). I remember using swithces while
starting the rapp service, to make it dump debugging info. Anybody knows the
switches? Couldn't find it the docs or in Remedy's web site.
(I have ARS 4.0.2 on NT/Oracle)

I had huge problems with rapp service in 3.x version. I am very disappointed
that 4.x doesn't seem to have resolved the vexing problems. (ran into this
trouble trying to use SLA application)

So far, I have restarted the service at least 5 times after making sure:
-The admin password in "SHR:ApplicationSettings" is valid
-The path info for rapp in "SHR:ApplicationSettings" is valid
-There is no error in SHR:RappSvcLog form
-In Services applet in Control panel, "Log on As" is set to system.
-There are no errors in arerror.log
-There are no alerts being sent to the admin person defined in
SHR:ApplicationSettings form

Everything else in the system seems ok.

Anybody knows the switches, or has any other ideas?
TIA.

I'm using version 3 but hopefully it's the same. The switches are -d for
debugging and -m for showing the banner (i.e. patch level) I believe this
one (-m) has to be done at the command prompt but -d can be used as a
startup parameter in the services dialog box.

I deleted all requests(files, that is) in rappdir, and now it is back to
normal. I was told that if there is one bad file, rappsvc hangs and can't go
past it, no matter what you do except deleting the file it (which means
deleting all files, because you would not know which one is the bad one).
Not amusing. I am not sending these requests, SLA application is. Why is the
file bad?

Now I remember why I did not rely on rappsvc in 3.x version. Now that I know
4.x version does not have this problem fixed, I am wondeting if I can use
the SLA application, because this app relies heavily on rappsvc.

Anyway, thanks again.
