workflow and I'm having some difficulty. Someone created a couple of forms
that have active links that include macros. In those macros are Crystal
Reports. When he imported the active links with the macros and reports,
where do those macros and reports get stored on the server? Is there any
way I can look at the macro he created? I've tried doing searches on the
server for *.arq and *.rpt and I cannot find the macros or reports he
imported. It would be nice to view the macro commands, but I really, really
need to be able to access those Crystal Reports.
I'm not real familiar with Crystal, so it could be a matter that I'm
overlooking the obvious. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

one utility that allows you to extract and edit macros inside active links.
You can also get armacal from Remedy Utilities studio.

The macros are stored in the active link. You either have to extract them with a program in unsupported (I think it is armaced). This will give you a copy of the macro in text form.
The other way is to purchase a program that will edit the macros in the active links.

active link. If you export the AL you can open the file and see the macro. I
assume the same of the crystal report, but I am not sure. The only problem is
if you edit the macro in the exported file, you have to delete the active link
and re import.

utility called ARMACAL that will extract the macro from the Active Link into
a file of your naming. To look at the macro itself, yet another utility ;)
called ARMACED can be used to look. Both utilities are DOS command line
driven. There is another util to view the macro called ZsMacedit that's GUI
based and *very* good. It has a 30? day evaluation period and can be
downloaded from somewhere I forget (need some help here listers)
The Crystal reports .rpt files (I'm taking a guess here) are probably
located on the user's workstation under the Remedy/home/ directory or on a
common share on the server that the User tool is pointing to.
Good luck.

extract the macro from the active link. All our servers are UNIX, but I
like keeping the macros on my NT workstation, so I downloaded armacal.exe
from the Remedy web site.
One gotcha that I have never seen in the documentation (doesn't mean it
isn't there) is that if your password is over 8 characters in length, you
must use the -Z option (if your server is on a UNIX box). Follow the
directions in the readme file and you should be able to extract all your
macros with only a little bit of effort.
I'm sure others will respond with commercial apps that do the same job, but
armacal is part of the ARS package.

problems
The macro will have the name of the server on it, meaning it will not see
the new server and thus not work. And if you need to edit the macro you can
not find it , unless you imported it from the client or have it on a shared
disk.
As soon as a macro is made part of a Link or Filter, the original is no
longer consulted
