Beware of Remedy FTS.
- I couldn't get it to do what the FTS manual said
eg the manual says it is case insensitive. In fact, if you search for
'SMITH' or 'smith' you will get all the Smiths. If you search for 'Smith'
then the search will be for exactly that.
- I ended up putting wildcards everywhere to get a half-decent search (QBE
anywhere).
- our arerror.log gets unexplained error messages relating to FTS in it
- starting the fts function is unreliable. Sometimes it works, sometimes
not. If not, you end up deleting FTS directories, crossing your fingers and
starting again.
Remedy in the UK can't support FTS (or are unwilling to do so). They hide
behind a statement saying that it does what the manual says. I have asked
via our suppliers for a meeting with them to go through it but they seem
unwilling. I even suggested that if they are right I'd pay for the meeting
as consultancy!
You may have more luck if you evaluate it and only buy when you are sure
that it does what you want. We bought in haste at the end of a budget
period. I haven't, however, paid any maintenance yet.
In fact, I got so frustrated with it last week that I turned it off. I hope
that we can address searches differently in the future.

casesensitve. So if Users are searching for "smith" they dont find the

We already talked to a Oracle Specialist. He said that that is a Oracle
feature... So we a woundering if we can solve the Problem with Remedys Full
Text Search Lizence.....
Any did implement this already? Or has a better solution?
