an old Remedy option where you could buy a limited version of the Sybase
4.9.2 database engine bundled with the AR Server. This way you could buy the
entire helpdesk solution together. It's no longer an option.

As a former support rep for Remedy, I can attest that supporting this bundle
was very difficult. I would imagine that this is why it is no longer an
option!

Subject: Incredibly ignorant question about embeded SQL

All,

I've seen the option for Embedded SQL hundreds of times in the license tool,
and athough the Admin docs have references to Embedded SQL I've found no
explanation as to what it is, why it's an option and what functionality it
brings.

I'm guessing it might mean to use some sort of native Remedy driver/client
for the DBMS (maybe using the sybload or oraload executibles for accessing
the DBMS?) but I'm not sure. So....

If anyone can offer some info on this strange and wonderous option that's
been staring me in the face, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

I'm working primarily from memory right now, but it was mostly on the 3.x
platform I saw this. Oddly enough, if you look at the 4.x Installation
Guide, the Licensing worksheet has Yes/No choices for Embedded SQL for Fixed
and Floating licenses, as well as the Server itself! I've done everything
short of burning a support call to find out about this.

It's just one of those bizzare things I can't quite figure out...

Thanks!
