Danny,
It sounds like you want to 'assign' a backup action to a tech.
if that's the case, have an escaltion run against the Asset schema
that executes a runMacro for each server that is due for backup.
The runMacro would submit a ticket requesting the backup.

Alternativly, you can add a runMacro (user tool in batch on unix)
command to the backup. At the beginning of the backup youy could just
submit a ticket, OR
at the end of the backup, you could also pass the result of the backup.
