Hi All,

I am involved in a CMDB project which involves Network Inventory Storage:

We have identified five classes from CMDB for our use as given below:

BMC_Equipment
OFPD Equipment
Cells

BMC_ComputerSystem
Nodes

BMC_ConnectvitySegment
Cable Sheaths

BMC_HardwarePackage
Rack
Sub-Rack

BMC_CARD
Card

We are planning to use the above classes and the inventory types listed below each class for storing them.

Now, my query is,

How best is the design that i have identified above considering 60 Million CIs to be loaded.?

How best is it for relationhships?

And about AIE, does AIE can handle loading 60 Million CIs into CMDB.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Regards
Mak

mazr,

Sorry to answer a question with a question, but:

Is this a one time load, or ongoing update?

Is the CMDB already established?

AIE should be able to handle loading the data without an issue. You will want to make sure you have a separate server setup to run AIE and Recon on. The first time you run the recon, it is going to take and extremely long time to Identify and Merge those 60 million records. (Even worse if your ID activity's are really complex).

The question I would have for you is what type of system is the data existing in now and which version of CMDB are you utilizing?

Regards,
Frank

This is a one time load.
To start with we shall be loading about 20 Million CIs and Next we are planning to create Relationship CIs which would be close to 40 Million CIs.

Initially we would bring all the data into this CMDB 2.1
Next, we shall be loading deltas on a daily basis.

But, we are more concerned about the Initial Load.

Can AIE Handle this amount of CI?
Can a class handle this amount of CI?
What would be the best approach for loading the Initial Data?

The System is a Solaris and ARS 7 with CMDB 2.1 installed on it
