I am using AR system 4.0.1 and HPD application 4.0. The problem I am having is
that when the support staff go to create a new profile , they get an error
saying :

The following error(s) occurred:
ARERR [332] You do not have write access (at create time) to field : 4

I realize that it is a permission issue but not sure how to solve.

Any help is appreciated,
Faustina

I think you're on the right track. Field ID 4 is the Assigned To
field. Check the permissions on that field - and the others as well, to
ensure your users have the level of access you want them to have.
Appendix B in the Admin Manual Vol. 1 lists the field IDs for the
core fields. It's a handy place to bookmark.

Thanks for the reply. I am still searching for where I need to set the
permission to enable support to create profile. I've gone into shr:people and
don't see anything.

Again, I am using HPD 4.0 - the canned help desk app.

Thanks,
Faustina

First question is: Which form (schema) are you having your Support Staff use to create the new profile? "Help Desk Cases" [HPD:HelpDesk] (from the "Profile" button)? "Person Information" [SHR:People]? or "Configure People" [SHRCFG:ConfigPeople]? The permissions are VERY different for field 4 on those forms.

I am having our support people use the profile button on the "Help Desk Cases" form. Our support people have "APP-Support" or better in permissions; but actually, anyone using the User Tool and "Browser" permission on a Read license can create a new profile from there. (Fortunately, all but 20 of our users will use ARWeb so they will not have access to that feature).

If this doesn't work for you, please let me know. It probably means that our Jr. Administrator has been making permission changes AGAIN(!) without recording them, so I'll have to find out what he changed THIS TIME.

TTFN,
Harry Wilson

BTW, anyone else find it annoying that in the HPD 4.0, most of the forms change names after the first time you look at them in the User tool?

Try the User form. Or SHRCFG:ConfigPeople.

This is because of the form aliases. I do find it incredibly annoying. You
can remove the aliases by going into the view properties of the form in the
Admin tool.
