know if Stefan is still working on the code or not (his website has been
down for a month or more now), but I have placed the last code-drop that I
had from him into my download area. Feel free to go grab it and try it out.

Remedy Application Explorer has been replaced with Remedy Developer Plus. I hope that in v7, they'll add some more to the toolset in RDP. It's ok now, but could be improved.

It might just make your system unusable during its processing.... It is
LOAD tester that is for sure.

I remember using a perl script that exported all of the definitions in HTML
format using ARSPerl. (I remember we were running it against 4.5.2 so it
was a long time ago) Whatever happened to that?

don't know if Stefan is still working on the code or not (his website
has been down for a month or more now), but I have placed the last
code-drop that I had from him into my download area. Feel free to go

I do not believe that the version out on my site (1.28) was compiled w/ the 6.3 API libraries. I need to go back and double-check. I will see if I can get 1.29 compiled w/ 6.3 libraries.



I would give ARInside a shot, in the meantime, as it is definitely 6.3 compatible.

Have you tried to pull off user readable reports from the Sync database tables? I'm sure you need a documentation tool to do that as the information contained in the sync database tables is only relationship between various ARS objects...

The Sync Search is only for use within the Admin tool. Given that the data is on Remedy forms, it could be exported to, say, Excel, and sorted and searched on from there, I suppose. Someone skilled at and patient with formatting could probably make a report out of it. I haven't tried it, though.

I was taking a look at the information contained in those 2 of those 3 forms that contain the relationship data, and it looks like besides relationships you might not be able to pull out other information such as run if conditions or whats actually in the set field or a push field action or the contents of a Run Process, etc...

I'm wondering if you create a join between the underlying meta forms, and the sync forms if reports from these joins created would yield this information... off course you might need to convert the conditions, etc to user readable format.. probably not worth the pain considering there are free utilities around to do the same thing though :-)

I use ARSDoc against my 6.3 servers with no problems. (Note: I do not
use the pre-compiled version from Matt, instead I use the perl script
and run it directly). I am running ActiveState 5.8.6.811 with ARSPerl
1.8.4.

I second Rocky's recommendation.

Have been using Panacea for years too. It's also a great migration tool and does some performance analysis to boot. ("It's not just a floor wax, it's also a desert topping," as they said on Saturday Night Live.) They even provided a build that will talk to servers from 4.0.2 through 6.3.0!

VERY responsive and knowledgeable support too (usually necessary only when I don't follow the documentation, doh!).

ARSystem error message: (90) Cannot open catalog; Message number = 90Error connecting to server!

ARSysDocumenter (from the same author as ARInside) looks exactly like ARSDoc and is v6.3 compatible. I think if remembering well, ARSDoc129 is not getting all workflow objects when running against v6.0 (think it was something with guides not getting exported ?).

Have used ARSDoc though, as ARSysDocumenter sorts field ID's, not field labels, which is a little bit unuseful (in my opinion anyway). Can't get the pre-compiled version to run against v6.3 now and therefore using ARSysDocumenter now (great tool too! ... just the ID's :-).

A teammate of mine has a perl pre-version of ARSDoc129. Curious to see how this will turn out.

ARSysDocumenter is in version 3209 over here ... not sure Stefan has made a newer version (due to page down).

With ARInside we had an issue at one server, that is kept crashing the process, it restarted and it crashed again .. was nice viewing the errorlog :-) ... also had some issue with encryption. Great tool though.

Regardless which documentation tool used, can't live without one ... kudos to all the volunteer work of great community contributors !

I have attempted to compile the 1.29 version using ActiveState 5.8.7 build
813 and ARSPerl 1.84. It is available on my site:

tested it yet, so if you run into any problems with the compiled version,

I think a documenting tool that sorts on field ID's in a way is useful as on home grown systems that have been developed with care to allocate certain range of ID's to certain classes of data sequentially, such as person data, asset data, location data, skills data, etc whatever might be applicable to your application, you would have a nice view of data on a form arranged according to the different classes of data... starting with the core fields off course...

to all the volunteer work of great community contributors !

ARERR 90 is a connection error - Message not in catolog indicates you have no permissions to the arsystem.cat file. So I'm assuming you are running your AR System as a non-root and have forgotten to permit that user to use the cat file. Could you resolve that so you can see why you are getting the ARERR 90 error? You must make sure that your user running the AR System deamon has owner and group access to that file and read/write permission to that file

Earlier when I mentioned that it worked... I actually connected again to windows machine and it worked.

Now again I tried to resolve the ARERR 90 and as u stated giving the arsystem.cat file the read and write access and AR System deamon has owner and group access too. Still getting the same error message.

Giving those permissions would only grant the user that runs the remedy services access to the catalog files which should be copied in the /usr/lib/..... /C/ directory as instructed at the time of install..

ARERR 90 is a connection error - Message not in catolog indicates you have no permissions to the arsystem.cat file. So I'm assuming you are running your AR System as a non-root and have forgotten to permit that user to use the cat file. Could you resolve that so you can see why you are getting the ARERR 90 error? You must make sure that your user running the AR System deamon has owner and group access to that file and read/write permission to that file
