If there is a firewall between u and the gateway . that is your problem...
Remedy sends its IP address to the notifier which then attempts to connect back to Remedy on the port you specify in the gateway configuration. (You have to think old school .) You can't use the same port that your arserver is on.
Here is an example
Your arserver is 192.168.1.100 (TCP port is 2900)
Your Netcool Gateway is 192.178.1.100
There is a firewall in between.
You connect from your gateway to port 2900 on 192.168.1.100 and pass in the port that you want remedy to connect back to you on (let's say 2500), remedy then attempts to make a connection from 192.168.1.100 back to your netcool gateway (192.178.1.100
) on port 2500.
I can't remember the variables but the documentation should tell you. Also if it is a NAT you will have to configure that in your ar.conf file.
Thanks,
Sean

Subject: Netcool gateway
Dear List,
Anybody out there use the Micromuse Netcool Gateway version 7 with ARS 5.1.2 with or without problems? I was trying to use Netcool Gateway 3.4 with ars 5.1.2 and I am getting errors on the Netcool side about failing to register with the notifier. I just wanted to make sure version 7 works with ARS 5.1.2. alerts.
Thanks,
Teresa
