Here's the formula I use..
dateadd("s",({HPDHELPDESK.CLOSEDDATE} - 18000),datetime(1970,1,1,0,0,0))
The 18000 get's all time back to EST and the latter part provides the date to start from.

Try using DATEADD(datepart, number, date), where datepart = SS, number = the number of seconds shown in the field in question, and date is 1/1/1970.
