** One of my contacts at BMC passed this info along to me today -- thought I would share: "the next "RUG" is morphing into BMC UserWorld in San Francisco, on August 28- September 1." So is RUG now BMCUW? How mellifluously that rolls off the tongue... I kind of got the impression that 2005 would be the last year for a true "RUG", based upon Doug Mueller's statements at the closing session of RUG 2005 concerning next year's event... I remember something about continuing in the "spirit" of past RUG sessions (but obviously not in the name). Brings to mind a certain event a few years back dubbed "Synergy"... let's hope BMC will keep at least somewhat of an ARS-developer-centric focus for next year's conference. --Thomas This posting was submitted via the Web interface

** Great Idea Susan! Warren

It might be a nice idea if we had a chance to vote on submitted presentations before some interesting ones get dismissed. So maybe it would be nice to collect ideas of presentations we'd like to see, then maybe listers could develop a presentation from the idea and submit it. I guess that would be proactive. I'd be happy to accumulate the list and post it every .... say 2 weeks ??? Open to suggestions ... Susan On 12/12/05, Geoff Endresen wrote:

Maybe the event could be the BUG for BMC -remedy- User Group. Or maybe we could buy the rights to use the AMC acronym for the (Ars bMC) conference. If nothing else, they could still have the big Remedy party and call it the BMC ARS party (BARS, if we must have an acronym). ** Well, I'm sure this bit of news should get all of us Conspiracy Theory Remedy Users up! I will say this, last years RUG was dangerously close to being less about the Users getting together and learning more about the tools that we use, and more about BMC selling us product. Let's hope they heard those of us who complained (pretty loudly I might add) about that and get back to the True Spirit of Christmas...er, I mean RUG! They can call it anything they like as long as BMC gives us that! How about BMCONFAB '06! Anyone? Bueller? Warren

** Is that a comment on where the ARSList people meet (usually the conference hotel bar)?

Ok, I'm being overwhelmed with new acronyms. Just stick with the oldies but goodies..
BMC - Bring More Cash,
Buy My Crap,
Bad Machine Corporation ( really wanted to add three letters to the end of "bad", but I'm being good )
Big Mother honkin' CMDB
Buggy User Code
I do like BUG considering all of the outstanding 6.3 bugs there are. Seems rather appropriate. We'll the first and last RUG that I made it too was in 2001. I live with the memories, some good, some not so good. but still it was a lot of fun.
Scott
