Use PERFORM-ACTION-SEND-EVENT @ ChildClosed, but this required to go and study this action.

This doesn't change the open window, it just closes the existing one and re-opens it. It is an important distinction because if there were already data in the fields it would be lost...

On the parent form, you already have an active link that opens a dialog
form.

You can then have an active link that runs after that one (maybe with a
qualification e.g. if the user has pressed cancel on the dialog, then
maybe you don't want to replace the parent form with a search form). This
second active link would set a hidden display only field. I would make it
a character field and populate it with the word "search".

Then finally an active link that runs on Window Close (only if the new
hidden display only field = "search") which does an open window action and
opens the search form.

Hope this makes sense,

Isabel

Hello,

There is another way that works on 5.1.2. It takes advantage of the fact
that you can have active links run on "Window Close".

On the parent form, you already have an active link that opens a dialog
form.

You can then have an active link that This posting was submitted via the Web interface runs after that one (maybe with a
qualification e.g. if the user has pressed cancel on the dialog, then
maybe you don't want to replace the parent form with a search form). This
second active link would set a hidden Display Only field. I would make it
a character field and populate it with the word "search".

Then finally an active link that runs on Window Close (only if the new
hidden display only field = "search") which does an open window action and
opens the search form.

Hope this makes sense,

Isabel
