It doesn't really matter where you bury the survivors - you are going to be more concerned with getting you sentence commuted after your murder trial :).

Joe,

Since the first flight of the 747-100 had it first flight on 02-09-69 and had four engines, I think it would be a mistake to assume that 20 years ago planes didn't have more than two. I mean that baby is 36 years old.

Y'all are working too hard . . .

Use the one trip to the "bulb room" to set up a remove video camera, then set up a monitor in the room with the switches. Viola! You'll only need to flip two switches in order to map the switches to their associated bulbs. (Works regardless of bulb type, too, including "cool" bulbs. Nobody ever said you couldn't use additional tools or equipment!)

Another puzzle:

It's twenty years ago, and a plane is flying at 20,000 feet over Germany. (If you recall, Germany at the time was politically divided into West Germany and East Germany.) Anyway, during the flight, TWO of the engines fail. The pilot, realizing that the last remaining engine is also failing, decides on a crash landing procedure. Unfortunately the remaining engine also fails and the plane fatally crashes smack in the middle of "no man's land" between East Germany and West Germany. Where would you bury the survivors?

a) East Germany
b) West Germany
c) In "no man's land"
d) Other (please specify)

First correct answer wins the "Brainiac of the Week" award.

Hello Listers,

This is completely way off topic and I thought some of our great
thinkers
here might just enjoy this!

While working the other day one of my colleages quized us what was a
really
interesting quiz question.. I guessed the answer right - took me a while
though!

Ok the quiz/problem is as follows...

There are 2 rooms, one room has 3 electric bulbs, and the other room has
3
switches, one switch each for bulb... You do know which switch would
turn on
which bulb. You are given the task to find out but...

You are allowed just 1 visit to the room that has the bulbs, and any 2
switches to turn on, and figure out which switch belongs to which bulb..

It is not possible to see the results of turning on a bulb from the room
you
are in. So just 1 visit, use any 2 switches, and figure which switch
belongs
to what bulb...

Please do not reply to the list if you do not want to spoil the fun for
those who are trying to figure out the quiz..

Enjoy!!

Have a nice weekend all of you!

size=2>Hmmm... Turn switch one on and let it stay on for a
while.
Then
turn on switch two for less time than switch one. Head into the
next
room. The bulb that is really hot to the touch is for switch
one
and
the bulb that is just warm to the touch is for switch two. The bulb that
is
not
lit is, of course, for switch three.

I believe the first "Jet" passenger aircraft with 4 engines was...

....The tanker, called the KC- 135, was a huge success as a military plane but even more successful when revamped and introduced in 1958 as the first U.S. passenger jet, the Boeing 707. With a length of 125 feet and four engines with 17,000 pounds of thrust, the 707 could carry up to 181 passengers and travel at speeds as high as 550 miles per hour....

You are allowed just 1 visit to the room that has the bulbs, and any 2
switches to turn on, and figure out which switch b! elongs to which bulb..

It is so nice to know that I am not the only person with useless information tucked away in my head.

Might I also point out that one of the reasons I picked the 747 for my reference is that it is still flying today.
