Hi, I've now tried both Camtasia and Qarbon's viewlet builder. My opinion is that Qarbon's viewlet builder is more like Powerpoint, creating slides, and i found no way to create .avi files. I had to take screen shots of every slide, click, click.. and then save it all, and compile. Took some time. Presentaion in the browser. Took more time to create the same 'video' than with Camtasia. But -- the endresult is almost the same. Maybe an advantage to be able to add comments as text too. (Never tried)

With Camtasia it was just to start recording, and everything was included in an .avi file. To be played in Media Player. And in 1/10 of the size of a Snagitvideo, and in full screenmode. High quality And fast. The only disadvantage is that i have to by enduserslicences...

Sure that this is a much better way to inform users about new features in new application than to write documents.
And more easy to keep the information 'up to date'.

Just a fast comparison between the two products, sure i have missed a lot of features, but , i think Camtasia is the winner ...

If you're saving everything to .avi, then you should probably make sure your
users have the Camtasia Player. That's because you'll need to make sure
that your users have the TSCC lossless codec installed. You can specify
screen size for replay, but I believe that specification is hard-coded into
the HTML that launches the movie, and you need to make sure that you're not
setting a screen dimension that your users might not have (for example,
low-res CRT monitors won't play 1600 x 1200 full-screen very well).

I personally prefer to use something that makes true Flash movies because of
their vector graphics nature - they can automatically size to any screen
size without losses or distortion. Also, they'll play on virtually any
machine that has a browser.

Have a look at Qarbon and RoboDemo - my personal preference is for Qarbon's
Viewlet Builder, but that's just because I've used it more.

Best regards,
Martin

Martin, Yes...I have already installed now, (30 days license) impressed...
(I had to upgrade to directxver9 to), works like a charm...but one
question...It creates .avi files, In full screen mode it looks exactly like
the ARS User Tool, and i can see the video for every menuchoice, selection,
fields filled in and so ... but...does every user has to have this program
installed to be able to run the .avi files created with Camtasia, I have it
of course on my pc now, but if someone else try to run this .avi file not
having Camtasia, Will the file only be played in the the Media player the
usual way (not this full screen mode)?

I will try tomorrow with sound too ....forget Snagit and Video ...

Camtasia is pretty good - as is a product from Qarbon called Viewlet
Builder. At the top of the line is RoboDemo from Macromedia. One word of
advice - try and get a system that will generate Flash movies as opposed to
the other formats. They're much more bandwidth efficient, and much more
firewall-friendly.

Hi, I'm not satisfied with the Videocaptures in Snagit Ver 7, trying to make
small avi's to learn users use ARS ...played in Media Player. anyone tried
Camtasia Studio?

"While SnagIt is primarily for static screen capture, Camtasia Studio is
designed specifically for video capture." from the site.

I don't think you need to buy any end user licenses for people that view the
materials that you generate - the player is free and easily bundled into the
material that you send to your users.

Yes ...i've found that...good news ...but ...I have also downloaded the player, including the special codecs 'TSCC lossless'.
Suppose all users install that player, how can I make my videos .avi to be associated with the CamPlay.exe player ...

If I understand right so must the videos be played in that player, not in Media Player, if I want the full screen mode if users not have Camtasia installed, only the player ...right...

This test works with start/run: C:\Annika\CamPlay.exe \\tor\di$\\Organisation\DIH\Tabasco\LarpUtveckling\avi\test1camstasiahw.avi

The right player starts

But, I want that whole link to be hyperlink, just for users to click on.

(All videos are supposed to be in a tablefield, and rowchoice set field action to the hyperlinkfield ...

??
