We have an active link that runs on our change form, that when you click a button it runs OLE that opens an Outlook appoinment window and populates the start time, end time, and subject with data from the Remedy ticket. This was working great until we upgraded to Office 2003. Now we receive the error - Error fetching the requested interface object. No such interface supported. Does anyone know what is causing this error and how to fix it?

We also upgraded to Office 2003 and now all previous Remedy to Outlook OLE functions are no longer functioning.
I tried to rebuild the OLE Actions but the Outlook "OLE Local Server" is not listed in the list. It is listed in the "OLE Automation Control" list.
Any help would be appreciated.

When I try to open a new message or edit a message using word 2003 in outlook 2003 I get the following message: "Microsoft Word is set to be your e-mail editor. However, Word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same version as Outlook. The Outlook e-mail editor will be used instead. An OLE registration error occurred. The program is not correctly installed. Run setup again for the program." I have uninstalled Microsoft Outlook and Outlook express and reinstalled both, but I still get this error. I originally had installed EasyOffice and then unistalled it. I have been having this problem ever since. I don't have any other versions of Office installed. I would appreciate any information on how to resolve this problem.

CAUSE
This behavior occurs if the Ole32.dll file that is located in the %Windir%\System32 folder is not registered correctly in the registry.
Back to the top

RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, register the Ole32.dll file. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type the following command in the Open box, and then click OK:
Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll
2. In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.

That didn't fix my particular issue that I originally had, but I found this KB article on Remedy's support site and the deletion of this registry key fixed my problem after installing Outlook 2003.

Removing the InProcServer32 or InProcServer key may resolve this issue.

For Word the key is:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{00020906-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

For Excel the key is:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{00020820-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

For Outlook the key is:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

Installing Office 2003 has the .NET Programmability Support installed by default and this may be adding these registry entries. After removing this option from Outlook 2003 options, the OLE functions begin working again. A Defect has been submitted with BMC/Remedy support.
